The woman behind The Candle Kitchen
I'm Petra, founder, maker and creative behind The Candle Kitchen, a handmade Australian candle and home fragrance brand based on the South Coast of NSW.
The Candle Kitchen started with a little experiment at my kitchen bench. I wanted to make a candle I genuinely loved , beautiful fragrance, beautiful design and a scent that could take me somewhere.
I didn't realise then that it would become a business.
FROM FASHION TO FRAGRANCE
Before The Candle Kitchen, I spent more than 25 years working in the Australian fashion industry, designing and developing products for brands including Seafolly and Bras N Things.
Fashion taught me about colour, texture, materials and the little details that make something feel special.
Eventually, that creative obsession moved from clothing to fragrance.
From designing what we wear to creating how our homes feel.
And I fell completely in love with it.
MADE ON THE SOUTH COAST
Today, I hand-pour The Candle Kitchen candles in small batches from my studio on the South Coast of NSW, using natural soy wax, cotton wicks, and carefully layered fragrances.
My small studio sits inside an old Timber Mill on the South Coast of Australia. A creative space shared with artists, makers, and a tiny café that keeps us all well fed.
It’s here that every candle begins life.

I'm open Thursday – Sunday | 9am – 3pm
You can smell the fragrances, explore the candle bar, and even bring your empty jars back for a refill.
It’s a relaxed, creative little corner where candles are poured, stories are shared, and the studio smells amazing.
