What does Amber Road smell like?
Masculine, woody and deeply comforting, like lighting a fire on a cold winter night and instantly feeling at home. It opens with fresh hay and tobacco leaf, settles into honey and lavender, and finishes with a warm base of amber, musk and tonka bean. It’s the kind of scent that makes any space feel like a country homestead on a cold evening.
What inspired Amber Road?
Amber Road was born from Petra’s childhood memories of growing up in a tiny Australian timber town. Icy winter winds cutting through the valley, open wood fires burning constantly, and the relief of coming inside with cold hands wrapped around a warm mug of Milo while the fire glowed quietly in the background. It’s nostalgia in a candle.
Is Amber Road a good winter candle?
It’s one of our most-loved winter fragrances and for good reason. Warm and deeply comforting, it pairs beautifully with a wool blanket, a good book, and absolutely nothing on the agenda. If you’re looking for a candle that makes winter feel cosy rather than cold, this is the one.
Is Amber Road a good gift?
Absolutely, especially for a man or someone who loves the outdoors country living or warm, earthy fragrances. It’s also a beautiful choice for anyone who appreciates something a little unexpected. Bold enough to be memorable, comforting enough to be loved by almost everyone who tries it.
Where does it work best in the home?
Amber Road feels right at home in a lounge room, study or bedroom anywhere you want to create a warm, intimate atmosphere. It’s the perfect candle for slow winter evenings when you want your home to feel like a cosy country retreat.
Is every candle really handmade?
Every single one. Each Amber Road candle is hand-poured by Petra here on the beautiful South Coast of Australia using 100% natural soy wax and braided cotton wicks. Made slowly, in small batches, with care just like the country life that inspired it.

1. Let it pool (first burn)
The very first time you light your candle, give it a chance to settle in. Let it burn long enough usually around 2 to 4 hours so the entire top layer melts right to the edges. That way, the wax ‘remembers’ to burn evenly next time. It’s a small act of patience that makes a big difference.
2. Trim the wick
Before each burn, give your wick a little tidy-up about 5mm is just right. It helps your candle burn slowly and cleanly, without getting smoky or too hot. Think of it like brushing your hair before heading out: quick, simple, and totally worth it.
3. Keep it still
Candles love calm. Try to keep them away from open windows, fans, or busy walkways. A steady flame means even melting, no tunnelling, and no leaning flames. It’s just like us really, we shine better when we’re not being blown about.
Yes, soy candles are one of the cleanest choices you can make. Our candles are hand-poured with 100% natural soy wax and cotton wicks, free from harmful chemicals, toxins or carcinogens, so you can breathe easy while you enjoy the glow.
Soy wax is plant-based and renewable, while paraffin comes from petroleum. Soy burns slower and cleaner, giving you a longer-lasting candle with less soot and a softer, more natural scent throw.
They do! Because soy wax has a lower melting point, it burns gently and evenly, meaning more hours of fragrance and light for you to enjoy.
Scent throw depends on a few things, the room size, airflow, and how long your candle has been burning. OR....Olfactory Fatigue, “nose blindness.” Your nose simply gets used to the scent. Step outside for a few minutes maybe smell a few coffee beans, then come back in. You’ll notice the fragrance again, fresh and beautiful.
It means our candles are made purely from soybeans, no blends, no fillers, just clean, sustainable wax that performs beautifully.
